Just wanted to let everyone know that I am back from my blogging break, and I am more focused than ever to write quality content that will help you develop the career that you love and improve your current career.
What I’ve Been Doing . . .
My wife and I moved from Jacksonville, Florida to Orlando, Florida. My wife started a new job, and I quit my job as a claims adjuster. We bought a house near downtown Orlando, moved in, and we’ve been busy painting, pruning the yard, and unpacking tons of boxes. Needless to say, we’ve been busy.
Quitting My Job
This was a huge blessing for me. I knew that claims adjusting wasn’t in my future as a career. I wasn’t passionate about it, and I didn’t find any sense of fulfillment in the work that I was doing. The company did not try to grow and develop their employees. Rather, they tried to suck as much work out of us at the least amount of compensation possible. It wasn’t a good situation, but it was a good first job right out of college. The company was good to me in the beginning, and it was a good opportunity to get a feel for working for a large company. I learned that working in a large corporate environment is not the way for me. So, the job hunt now starts, and it will be more like a career hunt for me. This is an opportunity for me to develop a career that I am passionate about without having to worry about bringing in enough money to feed us, because my wife is now working with a great paying job.
Becoming a financial planner
This is the career that I would like to start, but the barriers to entry are rough. I don’t really know where to start or how to get my foot in the door. I don’t have any licenses, but I have a ton of personal knowledge about personal finance and investing. I just need to get a break from a financial planning firm.
That’s what I’ve had on my plate lately. Regular posts will be coming from now on. I have plenty of time on my hands to blog, and I intend on opening up the discussions and topics of this blog to career development, personal finance, entrepreneurship, and small business start-ups.
