Never compromise your morals just to get a promotion. But, you can impress a hiring manager by showing your enthusiasm for the new position. Follow up with the hiring manager once a week to check on the status of the hiring process. If you are required to interview for the position or promotion, make sure you convey your eagerness to obtain the new position. Business men and women like people who go out and get what they want.

What if your company does not offer much opportunity for advancement? Maybe a promotion has not even been announced. Maybe you have noticed a need for a totally new position that would fill a need in the company. Make a proposal to upper management. The worst they can say is “No!”.
