Should We Be Worried About the Rising Unemployment Rate?

A report came out that unemployment rose to 6.1 percent, which is a 5 year high. Should we be worried about this? I don’t think we should be as worried as the media wants us to be. The media is always looking for a doom and gloom article, because it’s an election year, and politicans thrive on staking their platform on turning around the economy.

My theory for why it rose. I think the rising unemployment rate is simply the fall out of industries that have suffered from the housing and credit crunch. Loan officers, real estate agents, employees of credit card companies, and others were largely affected by the decline in the housing and credit markets. Sometimes, the unemployment rate doesn’t show the effects until late.

Still, the 6.1% is one of the lowest in the country. Many countries would DIE to have an unemployment rate this low. Be weary of the media two months out from an extremely important election year. They want to scare Americans. They want us to be shaking in our boots when we go to the polls. Do your research, and you will see that the economy is not as bad as Democrats want us to think it is. I’m convinced that Democrats need to make us feel like the entire country is suffering in order to win this election. Exploiting the small jump in the unemployment is just another example of it.
