Wake up. Take a shower. Get Dressed. Eat some cereal. Watch the morning news. Think about how you don’t want to go to work. Yeah, it sounds depressing, but is it reality? You may have a routine in the morning, but is it a productive one? Something that I have been trying to work on the morning is developing a productive routine that starts my day off right. Obviously, you need to take a shower, get dressed, and eat something, here are some other activities you can throw in your morning to get you started off right and feeling more positive about the day ahead of you.
- Spiritual Activity. For me, it’s reading the Bible, a Christian devotional, or praying for a few minutes to reflect on what is most important, my relationship with God and my wife, Lindzee. This site is not intended for evangelism, so whatever your spiritual side entails, set aside a few minutes in the morning to do it. If you don’t have a spiritual side, at least take a few minutes just to be silent and reflect on life and your day ahead.
- Exercise. I kno’w what you’re thinking. I think the same thing. Who the hell wants to get up in the morning and go for a jog. Some people do, and I envy them. I have gone back and forth with the idea of exercising in the morning, and I have come to this conclusion. I don’t think it’s good to do a hard workout in the morning. You’re more prone to injury, because you aren’t loose enough. I think that a light exercise of 15 to 20 minutes is perfect for a morning workout. Go out and do a fast walk, light jog, or swim. If you have a hard time motivating yourself to do this, get a dog! I have a dog, and it’s really easy to motivate myself to go outside in the morning, because Harley is always staring at me when I wake up. You’ll boost your metabolism and you’ll wake up quicker. It will help you burn more calories during the day AND be more productive at work.
- Don’t skip breakfast. I’ve read numerous articles about how people that eat breakfast tend to be in better shape, and it makes sense. It boosts your metabolism to start out the day, and it makes you less hungry for lunch. If you skip breakfast and eat a huge lunch, it’s probably worse for you. Stuffing your face is never a good thing, because your body can’t keep up with the Pizza Hut buffet.
- Compliment Someone. If you’re married or living with your significant other, I strongly suggest that you compliment your spouse in the morning. It will help prevent from those dreaded morning fights, and you’ll put yourself and your partner in a better mood. You could also compliment a friend or a co-worker. When you’re thinking positively about others in the morning, you’ll think more positively about your work environment and the rest of your day.
Those are just a few tips that I have thought of. If you have any more, let me know! What do you do in the morning that gets your day started right?
