Do you hate your job? Well, you’re probably obvious about it. So obvious that your co-workers and your boss can tell you hate it. However, most bosses are too lazy to care, because if they fire you, then he or she will have to pay you severance and find someone else to replace your slacker butt. Here are five ways to tell that someone can’t stand their job:
- Running a little late? I thought so. Why would you want to show up early to a job that you hate? You’ll set your alarm clock to the latest possible minute that you can set it without being noticeably late to work.
- Production down? Why spend more energy at your job when you can do just enough work to not be noticed as exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. It’s called mediocrity, folks! Welcome to America!
- You find yourself quick to anger when interacting with co-workers and superiors. This could get ugly if your bubble eventually pops. Think of a volcano that has been dormant for hundreds of years and is ready to erupt. Yikes!
- Your daydreaming consists of thinking of businesses to start on your own or other places that you can work. This also includes surfing on monster.com or the classifieds on company time. The fact that you have the audacity to search for jobs while you are at work makes this a very telling sign that you hate your current job.
- Your personal relationships are starting to fail. Many times we take our frustrations in the workplace out on the ones we are closest to. This includes your spouses, children, parents, and friends.
Did any of these strike a chord for you? If they did, you should start evaluating why you took the job in the first place. Then, start thinking about if you could do anything for work with no other factors involved, what would it be? If you can figure that out, then you’re half way to becoming a happier person and getting into work that you love. Look, we all fall into jobs that we don’t like at some point in our life. There is no need to get discouraged over this. In the future, I’ll discuss more about putting together a five year plan for getting into work you enjoy more. You don’t have to work where you are now for the rest of your life! Say that every morning, and I promise you’ll have great results!

[…] So first, face the fact that 75 percent of our communication is going to be electronic. Next, make sure that your boss does make an effort to communicate with you in person. If they don’t you’ll unavoidably become disconnected and you won’t like it. […]
