Check out the article, Is Your Work Getting In The Way of Your Life? over at PickTheBrain.com.
It’s a great question to ask, because the workplace has evolved since since the middle of the 20th century. For many people, the 40 hour work week is non-existent. It’s more like a 60 to 70 hour work week. The article outlines what happens when you become a workaholic and how it negatively affects your life.
My question to you is, does your job require you to work that much or do you choose to work that much? There is a big difference. Those that choose to overwork themselves, will actually see that they put forth a less quality work product and their employer takes advantage of them. Yet, our culture has programmed us to think that we have to be the work mule of the company in order to get ahead. This is false. You must be a hard-worker, but more work doesn’t always trnaslate into hard work. That’s something to think about each day that you wake up and go to work.
