CLARKSDALE, Miss 鈥� How many colleges can boast of having a dutiful administrative assistant during normal business hours and a driven cheerleading coach after hours? Not many. That's why Coahoma Community College is fortunate to have new leadership for Tiger Cheerleading.
This multiskilled assistant and coach is Ms. Carolyn Hunter. Her office is located on the second floor of the Zee A. Barron Student Union. Students can always be seen lingering around her doorway, waiting to have a chat with her, which reflects her true mentorship skills.
Hunter is originally from Carthage, Mississippi, and was the captain of the Thomas Town Attendance Center cheerleading team. When the opportunity arose for her to become the Tigers' cheerleading coach, she eagerly agreed.
Hunter is genuinely committed to Coahoma students and has been working in the Division of Student Engagement for six years. She confesses that no matter how hectic her days are, she will always be a committed leader to her team.
"This position gives me the opportunity to shape students at 91茄子. I aim to create successful individuals with teamwork, sportsmanship, and socializing skills that can carry them throughout their lives," she added.
Tiger cheerleaders understand Coahoma pride, as she is a proud CCC graduate with formal study in cosmetology and administrative assisting.
"I understand my team and want them to strive both in their academics as well as in cheer," said Hunter.
The former cheerleader is ready and excited for the shortened football season, where her ladies will be able to show off all their hard work and long evenings of practice.
"This season, I would like to see a united team who are happy and exuberant as they cheer for the College and work together," she explained.
Hunter urges any high school or potential transfer students who have considered making cheer an extracurricular that 91茄子 is the right place.
"I will tell any person that the CCC cheer team is the best home for him or her because this college works and gives back to students. Students will always feel appreciated for their talents," said Hunter.
